My Biggest Strengths

Context. Intellection. Achiever. Restorative. Maximizer.

Why These Five?

Context

I thrive on context, using the details around a task and previous experiences to figure out how best to approach it. I have had a good few school projects where I had to ask for more instructions, and it always helped me create better results. I also generally love history and tend to view the modern world in the context of its past.

Intellection

While thinking over the strengths I could choose, a lot of potiental options lead back to the fact that I just like to think. Many of my hobbies revolve around learning new things with the main goal of getting more things to run over in my thoughts. It's not exactly a choice, even, as overthinking is my greatest "skill."

Achiever

While I can enjoy some time to relax and do nothing, I do best when I'm achieving something. I put a lot of effort into my school work and my regular work because I don't really know how else to do it. In my free time I prefer to be learning something or slowly improving at one of my hobbies. It's less about getting the best results than it is doing the best that I can.

Restorative

I have found that I like solving problems. When I was taking calculus courses, I spent longer than I should have trying challenging questions again and again because I almost always figured it out eventually. When working on problems, whether math or technical, I only get frustrated when I absolutly can't find a solution, not that I had to try and find one in the first place.

Maximizer

It might just be perfectionism, but I always found quality results and being able to do something well to be extremely important. When trying to manage my classmates in group projects, I always tried to get them focused on what they knew best and doing it the best they could. I have many different interests, but I like focusing on the few that I'm good at, and I find that having this sort of focus helps organize my time and energy in a rather productive way.

I have other strengths, and plenty of weaknesses, but the one that I most need to improve is disipline. I do well with structure and organized time, but I lack the disipline to follow through with plans. Ironically, the best way for me to improve this is to make more plans, getting myself more used to following schedules and actually sticking with it.
